Full time Clinic
There are 2 full time School Nurses are fully qualified and licensed and provide a school clinic from 0715 to 4pm. Students can drop in to see the nurse regarding any sickness or injury. Reception and Nursery children are brought by their teacher. Parents are informed by email of any medication that is given to their child or If a student needs to go home from school due to illness. The child waits in the school clinic, where there is a bed for students to sleep in. The nurses carry out the recommended childhood immunisations in Year 1 &, 6. Also medical checks happen in Year 1 & 7. The nurse checks each child’s height, weight, body mass index, vision, hearing and blood pressure. As part of the medical screen a doctor comes to school and checks the general health of every child and a dentist checks their oral health. The school nurse assists the teaching staff with lessons about keeping healthy for all the children starting from Nursery class. The nurses keep up to date records of all child vaccinations, medical conditions and allergies and can give advice to parents regarding treatment and immunisations.
